Traveling the Silk Road Opening Day
Saturday, September 28, 2019 10:00 AM — 1:00 PM
Enjoy Fernbank’s newest special exhibit, featuring the peoples and cultures who benefited from trade on the silk road -- not only from the profitable exchange of commodities, but also from the interchange of new technologies, religions, types of music, literature and ways of thinking.
Get up close and personal to a live Arabian camel from Sam’s Path Petting Zoo’s.
Local artist Leslie Rogers Todder will demonstrate silk painting using brilliant dyes and a traditional resist silk painting technique.
Camels: One Hump or Two?
Ever wondered why camels are better than horses in desert climates, or why some camels have one hump and others have two? Here’s your chance to get answers.
Explore spices, some of which were traded on the Silk Road, with world-famous explorer “Navi Gator” and her dad, “Invez T. Gator,” as they help you identify spices and create your own spice mix.
Cost: Included with museum admission. Members FREE!
Mark your calendars for our next family adventure, Dinosaur Trick-or-Treat, on Saturday, October 26.
Sponsored by the McClatchey Foundation and the Isdell Family Foundation
