In addition to a wide array of exhibitions and IMAX® offerings, Fernbank Museum also hosts a variety of special programs for children and families and for adults. Check out the list below or use our searchable calendar of events.
Children's and Family Programs
DANGEROUSLY DELICIOUS TASTING EVENTS
Sunday, February 22, March 29 and April 26 from noon to 3pm
Featuring local vendors, these tasting events will showcase the tasty thrills of death-defying samples, all made with a “poisonous” ingredient that is safe to eat. VIP entrance for Museum members at 11:30am.
WILD POISONS DAY
Saturday, March 14 from 10am – 2pm
Learn more about poisonous plants and animals through a variety of hands-on activities, special demonstrations and more. Presented in conjunction with The Power of Poison.
FERNBANK FOREST BIRD WALK
Saturday, March 21 from 8:30am – 11am
Join an Atlanta Audubon Society volunteer and discover more about the feathered inhabitants of Fernbank Forest, both permanent residents and visitors. This program is excellent for beginning birders or those desiring gentle terrain.
FERNBANK FOREST GUIDED TOUR
Sunday, March 22 from noon – 2pm
Experience the rich oasis of Fernbank Forest, a 65-acre mature mixed-hardwood forest that is the largest of its kind situated in a major metropolitan area. Suitable for ages 8 and up.
Offered monthly on select weekends
This monthly program features a story and a special activity or song led by a Fernbank educator. Perfect for preschoolers. Dates and topics change monthly. Please refer to the Calendar of Events for specific listings.
Offered at noon on the second Saturday of each month, September-May
Join us in Fernbank NatureQuest for exciting tales about the natural world with Rob Cleveland, Fernbank's storyteller-in-residence. This program is suitable for children ages 3 and up.
Weekends in the Naturalist Center
Enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities every weekend in the Naturalist Center. Activities vary from animal encounters to science explorations and more, and will be available every weekend. Check the activity sign when you arrive to see what's happening. Included with Museum admission. Free for members.
THE POWER OF POISON Evening HOURS
Fridays, February 6 – March 6 from 7pm – 10pm
Explore the new exhibition, The Power of Poison during Martinis & IMAX®. Discover what Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland and Snow White have in common in this interactive and immersive exhibition.
SCIENCE ON SCREEN: JURASSIC PARK
Sunday, March 22 from 3:30pm – 7pm
Join us as paleontologist and author Dr. Anthony Martin shares the science behind some of the most iconic scenes from this film.
LOST OASIS 2015: NIGHT OF ILLUSIONS
Saturday, June 13 from 8pm – midnight
Join the Artemis Guild of Young Professionals for a magical evening featuring live entertainment, open bars, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, the Lost Oasis Wine Cellar and a stunning silent auction.
Salsa DANCE Night
Every 3rd Friday during Martinis & IMAX® from 7pm – 11pm
Monthly Salsa Dance Nights bring Salsambo Dance Studio to Martinis & IMAX®, offering incredible opportunities to enjoy Latin dancing (or appreciating the dance skills of others) with early-evening lessons for those who want a little practice before they heat up the dance floor. A special guest DJ provides the rhythmic beats. Standard Martinis & IMAX® ticket prices apply.
Fernbank's Martinis & IMAX®
