Summer Camp

We have increased our camp capacity through the virtual platform and new registrations will be accepted. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fernbank's virtual Summer Camps consist of week-long sessions for ages 5 – 13. Fernbank educators will continue to make camps engaging and fun, guiding campers on explorations of the scientific world through a variety of live video sessions, guided crafts and activities, and structured, self-led explorations.

Day Camp (ages 5 – 7 and ages 8 – 10):

Day Camps include games, activities, and crafts centered around the theme of each day. Camp themes are repeated weekly for each of the two age groups. Examples for 2020 include:

  • Amazing Animals Day—Campers will discover the strange world of animal adaptations. Activities will include exploring their "backyard" for animal traces and meeting several of Fernbank's animal ambassadors.
  • Fantastic Physics Day—Campers will explore matter, energy, and how they interact. Activities will include making oobleck and a DIY pendulum.
  • Paleontology Day—Campers will take on the role of paleontologists studying ancient life, including dinosaurs. Activities will include acting out the geologic time scale and making clay fossils.

You must select a week that corresponds with your camper's age (must be within this age range by the first day of camp):

Please Note: Registration for each week's camp closes the Wednesday prior to the start of camp.
