2024 Spring Break Camp

You’re invited to explore a world of science and nature with Fernbank’s Spring Break Camps for ages 5-13. Enroll your camper into a world of STEAM fun! Under the guidance of Fernbank educators, campers will perform experiments, play games and more.

Registration Dates: Registration opens on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 12 p.m. EST.

Cost: $300 for members; $350 for non-members.

Hours: Fernbank’s Spring Break Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Morning Care: Morning Care is available from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and costs $5 per day or $20 for the week. Only full-week Morning Care registration is available online. Single-day Morning Care registration will be available on-site during camp.

Afternoon Care: Afternoon Care is available from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and costs $10 per day or $40 for the week. Only full-week Afternoon Care registration is available online. Single-day Afternoon Care registration will be available on-site during camp.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: All registrations include a $50 non-refundable fee. Cancellations made prior to March 18, 2024 will receive a partial refund; the $50 non-refundable fee will not be returned.  After March 18, 2024, no refunds will be issued.

If minimum enrollment is not met, we reserve the right to cancel a camp session and issue a full refund.

Partial refunds will not be issued for missed camp days.

Camper Age Groups:

IMPORTANT:All campers must be at least 5 years of age by the time of their camp session to attend Fernbank Spring Break Camp.

Spring STEAM Camp

Spring STEAM Camps include games, activities and crafts centered around the theme of each day. Spring STEAM Camp 2024 Themes include:

  • Bugs, Butterflies and Spiders: Campers will learn about some of the world's smallest creatures: bugs, butterflies, and spiders! Activities may include meeting our animal ambassadors, exploring Fernbank’s outdoor spaces for insects and even boldly trying roasted crickets.
  • Scaley and Slimy: Campers will get hands-on experience with herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians. Activities may include meeting members of Fernbank’s live animal collection, searching for salamanders in Fernbank Forest and taking on the challenge of living with a shell in a game of Turtle Hurtles!
  • Flowers: Campers will learn how flowers are essential to the plant life cycle and ecosystems. Activities may include a stroll through Fernbank Forest to see the beautiful spring ephemerals, experimenting with chromatography to make colorful bouquets and “becoming bees” with a pollinator frenzy game
  • Ickology: On this day, Campers will take a walk on the gross side! Campers will explore the icky-est side of science. Activities may include owl pellet dissection, investigating dung beetles and making slime!
  • Communication: Campers will explore human and animal modes of communication, from language to scent.  This day will give your camper something to talk about.
