The Museum Store Takes Small Actions for Big Impacts

Fernbank’s Museum Store Supports Sustainability and Conservation

At Fernbank Museum, we believe that every small action can make a big impact—especially when it comes to protecting our planet. We’re proud to carry a variety of product lines that not only make great gifts and souvenirs but also support powerful sustainability and conservation efforts.

Here are some of our popular sustainable product lines available in the Museum Store:

Fahlo Bracelets & Plushies – Connecting with Wildlife like never before

Our Fahlo bracelets are amazing souvenirs or gifts that are a convenient, wearable way to connect with wildlife. Each bracelet comes with a QR code that allows you to track a real animal, such as a lion, koala, whale, and so many more. Once you scan the QR code, you’ll be able to learn the animal’s name, unique story and receive updates about its journey on a 3D map.

In addition to the bracelets, we also offer plush lines that are made with recycled materials that avoid plastic dyes and tabs, making them another great sustainable option. These plush lines also come with special tracking capabilities.

Each purchase from the Fahlo product line helps support conservation efforts to various wildlife organizations, with over $4.5 million donated so far to protect the planet’s most at-risk animals and their habitats. We believe that these products, while small, cute and friendly, hold a very powerful mission behind them that we fully support.

1 Tree Mission – Reforesting our Earth

When you wear a 1 Tree Mission bracelet, you're doing your part to reforest the Earth and help reverse environmental damage—one tree at a time.

With every bracelet purchased, a tree is planted in one of the world’s most critical ecosystems—from the Amazon rainforest to the forests of Australia and the U.S. Since 2014, over 135.5 million trees have been planted across 82 countries through this initiative. These trees play a vital role in restoring wildlife habitats, combating climate change and supporting global reforestation. Each bracelet package lists the tree variety associated with your purchase, so you can choose the tree you want to help grow.

Operation Homefront – Supporting those who Support Us

Brigade bracelets are an accessory that, when purchased, a portion of the sales is donated to Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization that provides relief and family support programs and services to help military families overcome short-term difficulties. Operation Homefront has fulfilled over 56,000 requests totaling more than $41M in financial assistance to veterans across the country since 2002.

Looking Forward

As we continue to make strides towards becoming more sustainable in our store, explore some of our successes:

  • Sourcing products from forward-thinking brands that avoid plastic wrapping and use eco-friendly materials
  • Purchasing sustainable plush toys made without plastic tabs, wax coatings, or plastic beaded eyes—instead featuring embroidered details and alternative fill materials.
  • Carrying books from local authors that we hope will inspire those visiting or native to Georgia, such as "Waterfalls of Georgia" by Mark Oleg Ozboyd.
    • This book is a comprehensive guide to over 700 waterfalls located in Georgia and is a great resource that gives insider knowledge to a multitude of priceless waterfall treasures.
    • The book includes trail maps, hiking distances, difficulty ratings, and trailhead and waterfall GPS coordinates.

Please visit Fernbank’s Museum Store, near the entrance on the 2nd floor, to shop and save! In addition to the impactful items listed above, it offers science kits, toys, jewelry, geodes, branded souvenirs and all things dinosaurs. We hope to see you soon!
