Holiday Happenings at Fernbank!
What should you do if you are looking for something fun to experience with your family during the holidays? Visit Fernbank, of course! We have new and special exhibits, adult and family-friendly events, and daily drop-in programs to make your holidays bright. Don’t forget about shopping for gifts in the Museum Store or purchasing a gift Membership – both are sure to make you the best gift-giver in the family.
EXHIBITS
The annual cultural exhibit is back with colorful and bright decorated trees and display cases representing more than 29 countries, lining both the 2nd and 3rd floors. On view daily, with access during Museum Nights for that extra special twinkling of lights. Through Jan. 11, 2026.
Open select nights through Feb. 28, 2026, this enchanting walk through WildWoods Is a glowing wonderland of nature and beauty. Part of Museum Nights, this all-ages experience includes access to the full museum, a fun lounge with snacks and drinks for purchase, and a giant screen movie.
Sunken Treasures, Ancient Seas
Dive deep into ancient history as you encounter a treasure trove of discoveries that were recovered from shipwrecks along the Italian coast. Real artifacts, from jewelry to helmets, are on view, along with examples of the supplies needed to find these treasures. Through Jan. 11, 2026.
Our Place in the Cosmos
The newest addition to Fernbank brings an exploration of our universe through a large-format screen, showing the birth of our universe; hands-on models that show how astronomers have studied space. Pair this with the fiber-optic ceiling of the Star Gallery, where you can find well-known constellations by using a diagram, and you’ll feel like a scientist in no time.

Fernbank After Dark + WildWoods: AGLOW: Gin-gle Bells
Need to escape the kid’s table and get your science on? Join us for Fernbank After Dark, where adults 21+ can dance to a live band, indulge in small plates and cocktails (or mocktails!), try your hand at some science, and experience the mesmerizing luminosity of WildWoods: AGLOW. The full museum is also open and includes a giant screen movie.
Join a member of our education team as they lead a Dino Talk; take you out into nature with a Family Nature Walk; tell you all about some of our animal collection during a Live Animal Encounter; teach you about the natural world when you Meet a Ranger; or listen along as they share Story Time with you.
