April 28 - May 1, 2023
The Atlanta City Nature Challenge is an annual opportunity to observe and document Atlanta’s biological diversity via a 4-day bio-blitz and friendly international competition. Individuals and families are encouraged to participate in their own backyards or local green spaces.
Time in nature can be very beneficial during these stressful and uncertain times. This program is a great way to not only enjoy time in nature, but help give valuable insight to the biodiversity of our city using the iNaturalist app. We hope you will join us April 28 - May 1 to connect with nature.
In 2019 , Fernbank joined a global initiative started by the California Academy of Science and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County to encourage individuals and families to document species of plants, animals and fungi found in nature using the iNaturalist app. The Atlanta City Nature Challenge’s goal is to connect people to nature and help give valuable insight into what species call Atlanta home.
Get inspired by viewing the results from the 2022 Atlanta City Nature Challenge.
New and returning partners, and interested participants, are encouraged to reach out to forest@fernbankmuseum.org with any questions.
The 2023 Atlanta City Nature is led locally by Fernbank Museum with support from these partner organizations.
