Fernbank Museum Announces 2018 Fernbank After Dark Lineup
After-Hours Series to Merge Science with Topics on Love, Gastronomy, Forensics and More
ATLANTA, January 8, 2018 – Beginning in 2018, Fernbank Museum of Natural History will enhance its popular after-hours series, Fernbank After Dark, with thought-provoking themes that explore the scientific side of our daily lives. Launched in 2017 as part of an ongoing initiative to inspire an interest in science and natural history, Fernbank After Dark has seen strong attendance and numerous sold-out events. Programming provided by Fernbank educators and local community experts make Fernbank After Dark a one-of-a-kind after-hours learning experience exclusively for adults ages 21+.
What makes you attracted to your significant other? Why do people prefer certain flavors over others? How did bootlegging influence the way we consume alcohol today? Fernbank After Dark's 2018 themes delve deep to answer these questions and more on some of life's most interesting topics, including food, love, transportation, imbibing and mystery. Held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the second Friday of each month, Fernbank After Dark features dynamic science-based experiences, as well as live music, movies in the impressive Giant Screen Theater, small bites and a rotating menu of seasonal beverages from the Mesozoic Bar.

During Fernbank After Dark, guests are invited to enjoy all of the Museum's indoor exhibitions, including A Walk Through Time in Georgia, Reflections of Culture, traveling temporary exhibitions and more. From May to September, Fernbank After Dark visitors will have access to Fernbank's outdoor experience, WildWoods.
Cocktails at Fernbank After Dark rotate seasonally and will kick off in 2018 with the Prohibition Manhattan, featuring American Spirit Works Fiddler Whiskey, sweet vermouth and 18.21 Prohibition Bitters; the effervescent Fossil Fizz, combining botanical gin and blackberry jam; and the juicy Blood Orange Margarita with Altos Tequila, blood orange and agave. Fernbank has also partnered with craft breweries to offer beer selections from Atlanta favorites such as Eventide, Second Self, Orpheus and more. Additionally, small plates are offered in the Fernbank Café from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sample offerings include loaded chicken nachos with braised Latin chicken and fresh Pico de Gallo, various flatbreads and tapas.
HOURS AND TICKETS: Fernbank After Dark is held the second Friday of each month from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Activities and demonstrations are held from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Live music is featured from 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fernbank's Café offers small plates from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Mesozoic Bar serves drinks from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Food and drinks are offered a la carte.
Movies are shown in the Giant Screen Theater at 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Visit fernbankmuseum.org for the 2018 movie schedule.
General Admission for Fernbank After Dark is $15 plus tax. General Admission and a Giant Screen movie ticket is $20 plus tax. General Admission for members is $10 plus tax.
