A Walk Through Time in Georgia Facilitator

Position Summary
To welcome visitors to the permanent exhibition A Walk Through Time in Georgia and explain the themes of the exhibition: the history of the earth and the regions of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors at the exhibition orientation desk or inner galleries.
  • Explain the chronological layout of the learning labs and exhibition areas
  • Interact with visitors and draw their attention to the field guides and learning labs
  • Ensure that the orientation desk is always staffed
  • Rotate positions with other volunteers as appropriate
  • Answer various questions regarding Museum events, exhibitions and facilities
  • As necessary, coordinate flow of school groups with chaperones and/or Security
  • Radio/call Security if assistance is needed

Qualifications/Expectations
Seeking volunteer candidate that is friendly; customer service-oriented; able to stand on feet for shift duration; comfortable working in a busy environment; appears as scheduled for shift; possesses general knowledge of the Museum; desires to learn the exhibition’s material; comfortable in a facilitator’s role; able to interact with children; adheres to volunteer dress code and follows Museum polices and procedures.

Time Commitment
Must commit to a minimum of 1, four-hour shift per month.
Monday–Saturday shifts: 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday shifts: noon to 4 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
