Get ready for a cool way to beat the summer heat with Fernbank’s Artemis guild of young professionals. On Saturday, June 14, Fernbank will host Lost Oasis: Tango on the Tundra, benefiting BONES for Kids (Building on Experiences in Science), a fund established by Artemis to enrich children’s programs at the Museum.
This year’s title theme, Tango on the Tundra, coincides with Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins, a lively, interactive exhibition that explores the Arctic and Antarctic regions, the incredible animals adapted to these extreme environments, and the unique research being conducted at Earth’s polar extremes.
One of the most anticipated events of the summer, Lost Oasis combines a fantastic party with a great cause, and draws together dynamic and ambitious young professionals who care about the cultural vitality of Metro Atlanta.
The 14th annual Lost Oasis benefit will honor long-time Museum and Artemis supporters Kevin and Adrienne Maxim. Co-chairing the event are Sam and Ryan Dunlap and Tracey and Darren Moore.
Fernbank serves nearly 300,000 children each year through school and family visits. Last year’s Lost Oasis netted $110,000 for children’s programs such as Weekend Wonders, Education Alley, In My World, Storytelling and the Family Fun Day series.
