Grand Opening Celebration
Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins

What:
Opening-day celebration of Fernbank Museum’s newest special exhibition, Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins. This family-friendly exhibition explores the globe’s two polar opposites: the Arctic and Antarctic. Through a combination of hands-on interactives and immersive dioramas, visitors can explore some of the most extreme locations on earth, encounter polar bear and penguin specimens, and learn about the adventurers who first studied two of the coldest places on the planet. The photography exhibition Penguins of the Antarctic and the IMAX® film Antarctica also open Saturday.

Penguins of the Antarctic
10 a.m. to 5 p.m., gallery walls on Entry Level
Enjoy this exhibition featuring 90 photographs of penguins, shot on location in Antarctica by expedition photographer and artist J.J. L’ Heureux.

Witness the mysterious, icy expanse of the driest and coldest continent on earth on Fernbank’s five-story IMAX® screen.

Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins is included with Museum admission: $15 for adults, $14 for students/seniors, $13 for children ages 3-12, and free for all Fernbank Museum members and for children ages 2 and under. Call 404.929.6400 for advanced reservations.

- B-roll inside the exhibition featuring ice-capped peaks, frozen landscapes, an upright polar bear specimen, a real penguin specimen, the “walk like a penguin” interactive, kids dressed in penguin suits, the “Test Your Ice-Q” trivia game, and more.
