Fernbank’s Museum Store Hosts Trunk Show with
Renowned Jewelry Artist Just in Time for Mother’s Day Shopping
For all those shoppers who want to give a special and unique Mother’s Day gift this year, Fernbank Museum of Natural History is making shopping easy, convenient and even fun. On Friday, May 2, jewelry designer Elaine Coyne of Elaine Coyne Galleries will make a personal appearance during Martinis & IMAX® to help find the perfect gift for mom.
Coyne’s designs, which sell for $18-$350, are permanently featured in Fernbank’s Museum Store, including a special collection inspired by cultural objects on view in Fernbank’s Reflections of Culture exhibition.
“Elaine Coyne’s jewelry designs have always made popular gifts because they are beautiful, unique and artistically crafted,” said Fernbank’s Museum Store manager Linda Gerber. “So many Museum shoppers have asked about meeting her, and this is a great opportunity to do just that, as well as to see many of her other designs that aren’t typically available.”
Coyne lives in Atlanta, but her jewelry is featured all over the country and even in movies and on television shows, including on Smallville and Night at the Museum.
She gains inspiration from the beauty of nature, the splendor of ancient objects and the sometimes abstract ideas behind modern artwork. The collection she designed for Reflections of Culture features necklaces and earrings which were inspired by a traditional marriage pendant from India, a coral necklace from Berber peoples, and an amulet necklace from the Turkoman peoples.
The public is invited to meet the artist on May 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. during a special night of Martinis & IMAX® which will allow visitors to express their own cultural inspiration with margarita-tinis and Mexican cuisine in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. The Museum Store will be open until 10 p.m. and will also feature a selection of other Mother’s Day items, including decorative ceramics, wall art, candles, wooden dishes, glassware, ammonites, crystals and much more.
Fernbank Museum of Natural History is located at 767 Clifton Road NE in Atlanta. Martinis & IMAX® tickets are $15, but no ticket is required to visit the Museum Store. For Martinis & IMAX® tickets, call 404.929.6400 or to reach the Museum Store, call 404.929.6330. Museum information is always available at fernbankmuseum.org.
