The Search for the Golden Ticket Promises a Delicious
Event at Fernbank Museum
Annual Fundraiser Looks to Popular Children’s Book for Inspiration
ATLANTA—While not quite as elusive as the famed golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, a ticket to the annual event, Lost Oasis: Search for the Golden Ticket at Fernbank Museum, is the ticket you will want to get your hands on this summer. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s 1964 children’s classic novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the Museum’s Chocolate: The Exhibition, Fernbank’s 12th annual fundraiser will be a retro-fun indulgence in chocolaty goodness.
The search for the golden ticket begins on Saturday June 3, with the party taking place from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. More than 700 guests are expected to attend the annual fundraiser benefiting BONES for Kids (Building On Experiences in Science), a fund established by the Artemis Guild in 2003 to enrich children’s programming at Fernbank Museum. This year’s event is projected to net more than $96,000.
To ensure a chance at some mouth-watering prizes, prize drawing tickets will be available for purchase during the evening. In true Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fashion, there will be five golden ticket winners among the tickets with one grand prize winner.
While hoping to possess those golden tickets, guests in their “cocoa cocktail” attire can party in Willy Wonka-style with live entertainment by Kingsized and the Dames Aflame Go-Go dancers, delectable silent and live auctions, dancing, a delicious dessert room, open bars featuring chocolate martinis and “fizzy lifting” drinks, and “scrumdidilyumptious” cuisine from Carole Parks Catering.
Lost Oasis 2-2-2
“The search for the perfect summer party ends with Lost Oasis: Search for the Golden Ticket. You can count on Fernbank and the Lost Oasis planning committee to once again deliver an exciting evening,” said Kevin Maxim, Lost Oasis Advisory Chair and Artemis president. “The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme is an apt reminder that the Lost Oasis proceeds fund children’s programming at the Museum. We intend Search for the Golden Ticket to generate record revenue for the Museum and record fun for all who attend.”
This year’s honorary chairs are Kristine and David Rudolph. The event co-chairs are Rebecca and Randy Moore, and Liz and Larry Sommerfeld. Leading the planning committee is Margaret and Matt Connelly, Ryan and Sam Dunlap, Jill and Artemus George, Mary Elizabeth and Louis Gump, Claire-Marie Huff, Molly and Reid Knox, Adrienne and Kevin Maxim, Tracey and Darren Moore, Whit Mulford, Qualena Odom-Royes, Meredith Olafson and Preetesh Patel, Beth and Rob Sneed, Tracey Stuckrath, Vanessa Webber, and Kara Worthington.
Tickets are $75 for members and $100 for non-members. Patron levels begin at $250. Call 404.929.6392 for tickets or for more information about joining the host and patron committee. For details visit Lost Oasis.
