Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure

Showing May 28-September 30, 2010

Discover a world where blades of grass soar like sky scrapers, leaves weigh more than cars, and life is measured in hours in the popular IMAX® film, Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure.

Go on a live-action rainforest adventure with film “stars” Hierodula, a praying mantis, and Papilio, a butterfly. The film follows their journey from birth to the inevitable encounter between predator and prey in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia.

Joining the cast are more than 40 tropical insects, including hundreds of praying mantids, as the film captures the birth of Hierodula and his brothers and sisters. As each insect develops, audiences meet a fascinating array of creatures that share their habitat, from leaf cutter ants that consume 20 percent of the rainforest's leaves, to an aggressive spiny katydid.

In addition, scorpions, tarantulas, frogs, lizards, and a colony of three million bats that consume two and half tons of bugs every night scurry across the screen, with some bugs magnified 250,000 times their normal size.  Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure magnifies the beautiful and sometimes bizarre world of insects with close-up action of more than 40 insects.
