Opens June 7, 2008

This “cool” special exhibition will take visitors from one end of our globe to the other to explore the fascinating (and cold!) worlds of the Arctic and Antarctic. Interactive stations will give visitors the opportunity to dive into a polar bear den, walk and slide like an emperor penguin, and find out how these animals are adapted to live in some of the Earth’s most extreme environments. After you’ve been to the Far North and the even farther South, you can “Test your Ice Q” with a game of trivia and learn the stories of historic polar explorers.

Ends of the Earth explores the uniqueness of the earth’s polar regions, the current science being undertaken there, and these regions as indicators of climate change on our planet.

Ends of the Earth is a great complement to Earth Science, Life Science and Geography curriculum. For a complete listing of GPS standards by grade level, download the Curriculum Correlations. Additional information and activities are available in the Educator Guide.

Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins is a production of Science North, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and is sponsored in part by Quark Expeditions. Media support provided by Radio Disney. Ends of the Earth Education Alley presented by Atlanta Gas Light, an AGL Resources Company and The Coca-Cola Company.
