Field Trip Policies

Please read these policies carefully. It is the responsibility of the group leader to convey these policies to chaperones, students and bus drivers before your field trip.

  • A 50% deposit is required two weeks prior to the day of the reservation. Deposit is fully refundable provided the trip is cancelled at least one week in advance. Trips cancelled less than one week from the reservation date are subject to forfeiture of deposit. If the deposit cannot be met you must call 404.929.6320 to speak with a Field Trip Team member.
  • Lunches may be eaten in the Great Hall, on the Terrace, or on the Front Lawn. Due to space limitations, school groups are not allowed in The Fernbank Café or café line, and are not allowed to eat on the dinosaur exhibition, on the steps inside or outside the facility, or near the pond.
  • Students, educators, chaperones and bus drivers are to wear wristbands for the duration of their visit. Chaperones must accompany students at all times.
  • Chaperones must accompany students visiting the Museum Store, with a maximum of 10 students per chaperone and 30 students total in the store at one time. Students should exit the store after making a purchase.
  • We ask that student groups use the elevators only in cases of physical need or to transport lunches, so that those who require the assistance of the elevator may use it in a timely manner.
  • Buses must drop off and pick up students on the side of the building and park in the lot nearest Clifton Road. Unloading in the front circle is not permitted.
  • Students may not chew gum on Museum grounds.
  • All activities must begin at published start time.
  • Students must refrain from using skateboards, roller-skate, roller shoes or Heelys® while in the Museum.
  • Visiting schools will be responsible for damage to Museum property.
  • Fernbank Museum reserves the right to decline visitation to unruly groups.

Group Wristband Policy
Your Wristband is your admission ticket to Atlanta’s home to dinosaurs! All students, educators, chaperones and bus drivers are required to wear wristbands during their visit. Wristbands will be distributed to the group leader at check-in. To expedite this process, we ask that the group leader have a final head count before entering the Museum. All students, as well as chaperones, must wear their wristbands for the duration of the visit.
