Join us for a WILDLY exciting adventure celebrating Fernbank's newest special exhibition, Wildlife Rescue. Activities include crafts, puppet shows, a chance to talk to real animal rescuers and more.
Scheduled Activities for Sunday, February 5*
Animal Heroes
Noon – 4pm, Great Hall
Join local animal rescue and rehabilitation organizations to learn more about wildlife rescue efforts in the Southeast. Educators and animal ambassadors from Dauset Trails Nature Center, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Atlanta Audubon Society, The Wildlife Sanctuary and AWARE (Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort) will be on-hand to answer questions and educate guests about wildlife rescue.
Giant Panda Hat Craft
Noon – 4pm, Great Hall
Make your own Giant Panda hat to take home with you.
Balance of Nature Environmental Education Show with The Wildlife Sanctuary
12:30pm, Wildlife Rescue Theater
Join The Wildlife Sanctuary as they share a story about the critically-endangered Eastern Panther. Learn more about these amazing cats and how they are recovering from near-extinction. (Limited seating; show approximately 30 minutes.)
Planet Earth, Inc Puppet Show by Lee Bryan, “That Puppet Guy"
1pm, 3pm, Auditorium
Join “That Puppet Guy” and friends on a planet earth investigation as they visit themes of conservation, habitat preservation and endangered animals. (Limited seating; shows are approximately 20 minutes.)
Giant Panda Conservation with Zoo Atlanta’s Curator of Mammals
1:30pm, 2:30pm, Wildlife Rescue Theater
Join Rebecca Snyder, PhD as she shares more about Giant Panda conservation and research. Zoo Atlanta works closely with the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China to conduct research with these fascinating animals. (Limited seating; show approximately 30 minutes)
Imperial Opa Condor Show
2pm, 4pm, Great Hall
Enjoy a visit with Condor performers from the Imperial Opa Circus. Learn more about these protected animals and enjoy a rollicking good time as they reveal their true personalities! (Performances approximately 20 minutes)
Animal Rehabilitation Show from Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort (AWARE)
3:30pm, Wildlife Rescue Theater
Join a local wildlife rehabilitator to learn more about animal rehabilitation and rescue. (Limited seating; show approximately 30 minutes.)
Cost: All Wildlife Rescue Opening Weekend Celebration activities are included with Museum admission and are free for members.
