Shake off those post-holiday blues with a day of swashbuckling family fun. Come aboard for a day of pirate-themed activities for kids. Costumes encouraged. 

Scheduled Activities*

Recycled Craft Corner
10am – 2pm, Great Hall
We’d rather walk the plank than throw away old newspapers. In this crafty activity, wee pirates will make their own swords out of newsprint.

Atlanta Pirates and Wenches Guild Members
10am – 2pm, Museum-wide
Ahoy mateys! Keep an eye out for our always-popular special guests, dressed in character as male and female pirates. 

Pirate Name Generator
10am – 2pm, Great Hall 
Don’t be a scallywag! Ye needs a proper pirate name and we’ll give you one.

Walk the Plank Game
10am – 2pm, Great Hall
Only the bravest pirates are up to this test of balance.

Temporary Pirate Tattoos**
10am – 2pm, Great Hall (Line closes at 1:30pm)
Because every proper pirate needs a tattoo.

Museum Scavenger Hunt            
10am – 2pm, Museum-wide
Thar be treasure awaiting one lucky winner that finds the correct answers to these Museum-related questions.

Tadpole Tales
11:30am, Naturalist Center
Join us for a story with a Fernbank’s crew along with a special activity or song. The featured story, Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs by Giles Andreae, is bound to please even the most swashbucklin’ buccaneers. 

Cost: All Pirate Day activities are included Museum admission and are free for members.
