Out of this World: Astronomy Weekend

Sunday, October 16 form noon - 4pm

We are ready for blast-off! You’re invited to join our mission to learn more about space, astronomy and how scientists learn about our universe through hands-on activities and demonstrations.

Scheduled Activities*
Big Thinkers Science Exploration

11am and 1pm on Saturday; 1pm and 3pm on Sunday, Great Hall
Explore how planets stay in orbit, watch as "planetary rings" soar into the crowd, and more during exciting show about space.

Constellations Craft
10am – 2pm on Saturday; Noon – 4pm on Sunday, Great Hall
Learn how to use a few everyday items and test your imagination to create your own constellation.

GSU Astronomy
10am – 2pm on Saturday only, Great Hall
Talk with real astronomers and explore space themed hands-on activities.

Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Viewing
10am – 2pm on Saturday; Noon – 4pm on Sunday,Dinosaur Entrance Plaza
Meet local astronomer Stephen Ramsden and explore with his specially made telescopes the only star that can be seen during the daytime, the sun. (Weather permitting.)

Solar System Bingo
10am – 2pm on Saturday; Noon – 4pm on Sunday, Great Hall
Fly through our solar system and explore astronomical bodies close to us in this fun game.

Space Sand
10am – 2pm on Saturday; Noon – 4pm on Sunday, Great Hall
Curious about the surface of Mars? This fun hands-on activity will give you a chance to feel what the soil on Mars is like.

Rings Around Saturn
10am – 2pm on Saturday; Noon – 4pm on Sunday, Great Hall
Test your skills and see if you can get the rings back around the fifth planet in the solar system in this fun game.

Hubble
Times vary

Join spacewalking astronauts as you journey through distant galleries to explore the mysteries of our celestial surroundings. Requires separate ticket purchase.
