Frequently Asked Questions about Membership

Q. When will I receive my membership card?
A. Your membership card should arrive in 2-4 weeks. If you have not received your card within 4 weeks, please call 404.929.6340.

Q. Can I visit Fernbank Museum before I receive my card?
A. Yes. Please bring your membership purchase receipt and a photo ID for admission and discounts on IMAX®, Museum Store and Fernbank Café purchases.

Q. Do I need to have tickets to get into the Museum?
A. Yes. Fernbank tracks attendance by the number of tickets issued. Also, for security reasons all visitors must have a ticket for admissions. Please show your membership card at the Member's Express window for a complimentary Museum ticket.

Q. How do I purchase discounted IMAX® tickets?
A. Please call 404.929.6400 to make advance IMAX® reservations or visit the Members Express window at Fernbank. (Members do not pay a convenience charge for phone orders.)

Q. Is there reciprocal free admission at other Museums?
A. Yes. Fernbank Museum, is a member of the ASTC (Association of Science-Technology Centers) Passport Program which allows you free or discounted admissions to nearly 300 selected museums worldwide (does not apply to institutions located within a 90 mile radius of Fernbank). Please visit www.astc.org for a list of participating organizations.

Q. Do I receive free admission to Fernbank if I am a member at another ASTC institution?
A. Yes. You must present a valid photo ID and your membership card in order to receive benefits. Benefits will only be given to the number of people included on your membership at the corresponding institution. Additionally, you will not receive benefits if you live within a 90 mile radius of Fernbank and have a membership to another ASTC institution.

Q. Why do I have to present my membership card and a photo ID for admissions and discounts?
A. Like other cultural institutions in Atlanta, Fernbank requires members to present their membership card with a photo ID to prevent the misuse of membership privileges. Please note, that ID’s for all members listed on the cards will be checked.  Fernbank Museum is a non-profit institution that relies on Museum and IMAX® admissions, membership sales and donations to keep its doors open for the community.

Q. Can I let a friend or family member not listed on my membership use my card?
No. Your benefits of membership are exclusively for your household and the individuals listed on your membership card.

Q. Can I send my nanny with the kids to the Museum?
A. Yes. Fernbank's Caregiver Benefit ($25 annually per Caregiver; maximum two per membership) allows a nanny to visit Fernbank with active member's children. This feature also allows a nurse or medical assistant to visit the Museum with adult members who need aid. For security purposes, we recommend that you provide us with the name of your caregiver.

Q. What age qualifies me for the senior discount?
A. 62 and above. Photo ID required.

Q. Do students receive a discount?
Yes. College students with a valid student ID qualifies for the student discount

Q. If I have a Family Advantage or Patron level membership, can I use my complimentary passes if my membership lapses?
A. No. IMAX® and Museum Guest passes expire when your membership expires. Please use your IMAX® and Museum guest passes while your membership is active.

Q. What happens if my membership card is lost or stolen?
A. Call the Member Services Office at 404.929.6340 to request a replacement card(s). There is a $4 fee for each replacement card.
